About The FounderKyburg Research founder and managing director, Philipp Bosshard, MBA, PMP, has been a PMO evangelist and agile approach promoter for over two decades and has shaped and cultivated project and portfolio management organizations for many market leading companies including startups. He's a decision quality and decision analysis practitioner, supporting executive management dealing with uncertainty in developing investment strategies.

When Philipp was researching for a holistic decision making process in support of investment and portfolio strategy he found it in Stanford University's approach to strategic decision and risk management, where he learned Decision Analysis and Decision Quality from the very founders, Ron Howard and Carl Spetzler, and its practical application in portfolio decision analysis. This revelation and the culmination of his career evolving around PMO solutions led to the creation of the Project and Portfolio Management Consultancy to help individuals and organizations thrive.
Philipp has held various leadership positions in which he was responsible for product design, engineering, manufacturing and introduction into B2B markets for technology companies in various industries. He's led international projects and programs, managed corporate project portfolios, helped develop corporate strategies, and built out globally operating PMO organizations to deliver strategic initiatives and accelerate value creation.
What Philipp cherishes the most, however, are the invaluable relationships and personal connections he's built, and the support he's received from them throughout all these years.

As one of five local startup members, developed the four major Semiconductor OEMs such as Lam Research, Applied Materials, Novellus, and Mattson into key accounts. And through effective technical and commercial management, met aggressive growth plans to become market leader in the RF Matching Network space to generate a boasting 65% of total company net sales, 30% EBITDA, and achieved an exceptional business outcome that increased shareholder value by 4600% over 12 years (COTN.SW).
Strategic Portfolio Management
Initiated and implemented portfolio decision analysis tool and processes, and developed and trained supporting organization, to advised executive decision makers in optimizing investment strategies and, in result improved a $200MM innovation portfolio’s ROCE by 100%, halving its cost, and reducing risk exposure by 30%.

Why Kyburg?
When Philipp started Research for Impact, a donation fund to bring help and relief to those in need, he was searching for a name for his charitable cause, which he found in a castle in Switzerland from the 10th century, the Kyburg. Then ruled by the heiress of the last knight of Winterthur, Adalbert II, who, according to the saga, selflessly yet heroically fell in the Battle of Civitate in southern Italy in 1053 against the Normans. Philipp lived and worked in the city of Winterthur near the Kyburg castle, which he visited frequently including its quaint little town.

Research For Impact
Philipp always had a natural affinity with numbers and charts and consequently developed a passion for investment research and analysis. Over the years he developed and refined a portfolio investment strategy that allowed his research to create impact for charitable organizations that help preserve our planet and protect the most vulnerable, children and animals. Philipp continues to donate proceeds to charitable organizations.
